Prime Energy’s New Zealand Manager Neil Brumfit knows a thing or two about power.
In fact, few in the business can claim the inside understanding he does.
That’s because Brumfit spent the first 12 years of his career as a Trade Certified, qualified industrial electrician, practising in the sector until 1989.
The practical skills of the trade are paired with the knowledge gained through a Bachelor of Business he graduated with in Perth in 1992.
Today, with over 20 years managing energy supply to the commercial & industrial sector, Brumfit believes these formative years to have been invaluable.
He notes how his electrical and financial skills often combine to assist customers in managing and reducing their energy costs.
This innate understanding has seen him deliver success with Ports of Auckland – EECA Award winner, Waitakere City Council (now part of Auckland City Council) – EECA Award Winner and Thames Hospital – EECA Award Winner.
As he puts it: “I think having a technical understanding of energy has helped me service clients’ needs better in terms of added value products and partnerships such as power factor correction and demand management. Now with the innovative energy management tools we’re developing at Prime Energy, it means I can see where we can help customers make savings and add that real value”.
Prime Energy CEO Michael Skates agrees: “Bringing Neil into Prime as part of our management team over two years ago has helped us tap into specialist knowledge that is a real bonus for customers. It’s something a lot of the bigger companies don’t have access to.”
